The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Over Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
